Pick up your January 2013 issue of Indianapolis Monthly Magazine to see the finished and installed image of this painting and the amazing space it is hanging in. The painting is titled “Cloud Forest” (oil on canvas, 8’ x 9’) and was a commission for a couple downsizing from their Noblesville home to a condo in downtown Indy. Thank you to the client, Nikki Sutton, and Nick Allman who I worked closely with on this project.

Thank you so much to the Indianapolis Arts Council for choosing me to be the current window mural artist! Details of three separate paintings are displayed on the windows of the Arts Council offices. You can see these at 924 N. Pennsylvania St. in downtown Indianapolis.

The year of 2012 has been a very busy one. Since the year begun I have had little time to work on anything other than commissioned work. I have completed two of the largest paintings I have painted to date, and work has been placed in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and Minnesota. I have been so grateful for all of these opportunities but sad that I have not been able to post new work on the website. Thank you for bearing with me through this exciting time. I see more studio time ahead of me in 2013! In the meantime. I hope to see you at an open studio night, or one of my upcoming shows.

I am now offering private lessons at my studio at the Harrison Center. Private lessons are a great way to get a little extra instruction at your skill level and your schedule. Occasionally I like to get out of the studio and take a look around at what the other artists in the city are making, and what the galleries are showing. Spring Painting Classes at Indianapolis Art Center

This Spring semester I will be teaching 2 14-week courses at the Indianapolis Art Center.
The courses are every Tuesday for 3 hours starting January 12, 2010. The afternoon class is 12:30-3:30 and is Abstract Painting, and the evening class (6:30-9:30) is Color Theory. New “Paper Studies”

Last week I started a new series of paintings on primed paper. I love the way the brush reacts to the smooth surface of the paper. The rougher surface of the canvas I normally paint on tends to even out textures, whereas the primed paper has allowed me to get a wide range of thick and thin on my surfaces.
The images themselves are a continuation of my exploration into the abstract landscape, and different ways of composing the landscape based on what is important to that particular image.

“Gale” Hanging At IAC Annual Faculty Show

Through the month of October, the Indianapolis Art Center has up in its various galleries the annual faculty show. The exhibition staff there was kind enough to accommodate my 2010, 20 foot painting “Gale”. This is the first time it has been displayed in public in its full form. While originally painted wrapped around a corner due to space limitations in my studio, it is currently displayed on one flat wall in the main gallery. Get a chance to see it now, as I do not know when the next time I will be able to show the entire piece will be.
